The publication series “Common BIM Requirements 2012” is the result of a broad-based development project entitled COBIM. The need for these requirements arises from the rapidly growing use of building information modeling in the construction industry.
In the BIM-based design process, the architect's BIM is mandatory for all the design phases. It is the foundation for all other models and is an integral part of many analyzes and simulations. Part 3 specifies the requirements for the architect's BIM in various phases of the project. These requirements are divided into three levels, but the details need to be adjusted according the different purposes of the Models. The intended use and accuracy of
the model is specified in the Model Description Document each time the model is published.
