The publication series “Common BIM Requirements 2012” is the result of a broad-based development project entitled COBIM. The need for these requirements arises from the rapidly growing use of building information modeling in the construction industry.

Usefulness of structural BIM model is determined by modeling scope, precision, data richness, and correct modeling time basis. The requirements have been broken down into planning stages, each stage consists list BIM tasks and list of modeling the extent and accuracy. The other project participants have been taken into account in modeling extent and readiness marking requirements. The intend for writing Structural design requirements was clarity and ease of use.
