The publication series “Common BIM Requirements 2012” is the result of a broad-based development project entitled COBIM. The need for these requirements arises from the rapidly growing use of building information modeling in the construction industry.

Reliable and accurate source data makes it easier to implement new design into existing buildings, and to ensure, that new systems and appliances can be installed and maintained. Part 2 deals with modeling the existing building and building site as a source of information for design and construction needs. This part describes the requirements for measurements and other information, which are needed to create inventory models as well as other as-built documentation.
